The Corelli String Players offer a broad range of musical options for many occasions.  With a variety of musicians, we are able to offer a string ensemble for virtually any event or occasion.

The Corelli String Players are available in San Antonio and surrounding areas, and as of June of 2010, we are also available in the Salina, Kansas area.

Corelli String Players Info

The core of the players are violinist John Schattenberg, group founder, and Douglas A Beyer Jr, the group's principal violinist and contractor.

 

Violinist, John Schattenberg, is a former member of the Trinity University Orchestra, and the San Antonio Community Orchestra. He is currently a member of the Saltarelli String Orchestra, and has been a member of the UTSA Symphony Orchestra since its inception in 1982.

 

 

 

Violinist, Douglas A Beyer Jr, has a lengthy orchestral resume, which includes ensembles such as the North Texas State University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Colorado Springs Community Orchestra, the Colorado Springs Community Chamber Orchestra, as well as several orchestras throughout the state of Texas.  A graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance, he is a former member and concertmaster of both the UTSA Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, served five years as concertmaster for the Saltarelli String Orchestra, and for five years was the violin soloist at the Little Church of La Villita.  Beyer has earned a Graduate Performance Certificate at The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master's Degree in Music Education, where he was also concertmaster of the UTA Symphony, Director of the UTA String Preparatory Program, Chair of the UTA String Solo and Ensemble Festival, and UTA String Area Graduate Teaching Assistant.  For three years he was a member of the Music Faculty at Garden City Community College as Director of Strings and Director of the Southwest Kansas Music Academy in Garden City, KS. Beyer currently is an adjunct music professor at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS, Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS, a member of the Salina Symphony, and a member of the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra. He previously served as Associate Concertmaster of the Hays Symphony in Hays, KS for two years.

 

Violinist/Violist Gail Plaxico, is a musician with extensive playing and teaching experience.  With a degree in Music Education with a specialty in strings, she has taught in strings programs in South Carolina and Texas , created a string program in Kentucky , and taught private lessons for violin and viola in Georgia , South Carolina , Kentucky, Virginia, and Texas.  She has been a member of the South Carolina Music Educators Association, the Kentucky Music Educators Association, The American String Teachers Association, The National School Orchestra Association, The Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and the Texas Music Educators Association.  In each of her locations she has always been involved in performing ensembles-Symphonies, Chamber Orchestras, Quartets, and Trios-as a violinist and a violist.

 

Pianist, Peter Gloria, has a Master's Degree in Music from Memphis State University, and has an extensive resume musical achievements of his own.
